The Earth and its Moon

The easiest celestial body or object which can be viewed from the Earth’s surface is the moon, the earth’s only satellite (natural). There are various theories about how the moon was created but recent evidence indicates it formed when a huge collision tore a chunk of the primitive molten earth away sending the raw ingredients for the moon into orbit.

Landscape difference:

Earth’s landscape is extremely varied with mountains, valleys and hills .this landscape is always changing as plate tectonics build new features and weathering and erosion destroy them. The landscape of the moon is very different with no plate tectonics features are not built with no atmosphere features are not destroyed still the moon has a unique surface the black spots we see on the moon are huge craters formed either due to volcanic activity or due to impact from the outer space.

The moon is located 38,400 kilometres away from us it has a diameter of 2160 miles and takes 27 days 7 hours and 43 minutes to complete one orbit around the earth. it has a surface gravity of 1/6 of the earth the moon has a 1/42,500 brightness as compared to the sun. the light we see from the moon on clear nights is in fact only a reflection on the sun’s light.
